Hoy os quiero presentar una amiga con la que comparto la pasión por el diseño, la decoración y los espacios diáfanos, seguro que a muchos os suena el blog Meu Canto. Hoy quiero que podáis conocer un poco mejor la persona que esta detrás de él… Rocío Esquilas.

Rocío Esquilas, es una joven interiorista, con refinado gusto para el diseño y la decoración. Amante de los grandes espacios en los que la iluminación es una de las grandes protagonistas, decoraciones neutras y con cierto aire vintage. Trabajadora y luchadora, aprende de los errores que se pueden cometer en una obra, a luchar con el cliente, a que reconozcan el buen trabajo, pero sobretodo en sus proyectos aprende a luchar por ellos y que las cosas se hagan como cree que mejor van a quedar.

Rocío Esquilas, is a young interior designer, with refined taste for design and decoration. Lover of the great spaces in which lighting is one of the major players, neutral decorations and a certain vintage. Worker and fighter, learn from the mistakes that can be made into a work, to fight with the customer, to recognize the good work, but especially in their projects learns to fight for them and get things done as they believe best staying.

¿Que es para ti un buen interiorismo? What is for you a good interior?

Cualquiera que sea funcional, puedes tener más o menos presupuesto, pero siempre que las necesidades del cliente o de las personas que vayan a disfrutar en él se cumplan, será un buen interior.

A mí personalmente me gustan los espacios con mucha iluminación natural. El estudio en el que trabajo, está rodeado de ventanas y es una maravilla, decorativamente hablando no es nada del otro mundo, pero mientras haya buena luz natural para mí es perfecto.

Whatever function you can have more or less budget, but if customer needs or people who will enjoy it are met, will be a nice interior.
I personally like spaces with lots of natural light. The studio where I work, is surrounded by windows and is wonderful, decoratively speaking is not anything special, but while there is good natural light for me is perfect.

¿Con que estilo de decoración te sientes más reflejada? With that style of decoration you feel more reflected?

Cuando empecé a estudiar diseño de interiores en IADE (Madrid)me gustaba un estilo de decoración muy clásico como lo llamo yo: interiores con estilo provenzal, mobiliario de oficio, acabados decapados... estaba muy influenciada por mi madre, que tiene un gusto exquisito, y porque mi casa tiene ese estilo, interiores muy cálidos, muy familiares.

Pero a medida que me mandaban proyectos y empecé a conocer a joyas del diseño como Toyo Ito, los hermanos Bouroullec, Karim Rashid o Jacco Maris, entendí la amplitud de estilos que tenía este mundo y supe que era muy pronto para decantarme por un estilo como el que me gustaba y el estilo moderno, como lo llamo yo, me empezó a encantar y cuando se lo comentaba a mi madre no entendía eso de interiores con estilo futurista o minimalista.

Y cuando acabé la carrera y empecé a trabajar empecé a conocer de verdad el mundo vintage, industrial, los anticuarios, el estilo nórdico... así que ahora mismo tiro mucho por interiores nórdicos minimalistas, aunque me siguen encantando los "clásicos".

When I started studying interior design in IADE (Madrid ) style I liked very classic decor as I call it : Provencal -style interiors , office furniture , finishes pickled ... I was very influenced by my mother, who has exquisite taste , and because my house has that style, warm interiors , very familiar.But as projects and started sending me to meet design jewelry as Toyo Ito, the Bouroullec brothers , Karim Rashid or Jacco Maris , understand the breadth of styles that had this world and knew it was too early to decantarme for a style as and I liked the modern style , as I call it , I started to love it and when I commented to my mother did not understand that interior futuristic or minimalist style .And when I graduated and started working really began to know the world vintage , industrial, antique dealers , Nordic style ... so right now shooting much Nordic minimalist interior , although I still love the "classics" .

¿Cómo surge la idea de DecorAcción? As the idea of DecorAcción?

DecorAcción empezó hace 4 años y la verdad es que cada año se está haciendo más fuerte. Yo creo que Marta Ríopérez y la Asociación del Barrio de las Letras lo que querían era que el Barrio tuviera ese aire europeo que tanto está de moda ahora, con locales de todo tipo, desde un restaurante, una tienda decoración hasta una simple zapatería, donde dar una oportunidad a los interioristas y diseñadores para inspirarse y enseñar su trabajo abiertamente a todo el mundo.

Este año he colaborado con María de la Osa y el estudio Artext Paisajismo haciendo el patio interior del Hotel Soho Vincci y la verdad es que ha sido una experiencia genial, conoces a mucha gente y es donde ves realmente las dificultades y beneficios que tiene el llevar un proyecto a la realidad.

DecorAcción began four years ago and the truth is that every year it's getting stronger. I think Marta Ríopérez and Neighborhood Association Letters they wanted was that the neighborhood had that European feel that is both fashionable now, with shops of all kinds, from a restaurant, store decor to a simple shoe, where provide an opportunity for interior designers for inspiration and openly show their work worldwide.
This year I worked with Maria de la Osa and landscaping Artext study by the courtyard of the Hotel Vincci Soho and the truth is that it was a great experience, know many people and this is where you really see the difficulties and benefits that carrying a project to reality.

¿Nos puedes contar algo sobre la colaboración que vas hacer con Cocinas Rio?
Can you tell us something about the collaboration that you do with kitchens Rio?

La colaboración con Cocinas Río consiste en una nueva sección en mi blog que se llama "cocinas por el mundo". Es un post mensual donde Sonia Baños de Cocinas Río y yo elegimos países de todo el mundo, donde Sonia habla de como ha sido la historia de las cocinas en las ciudades más emblemáticas del mundo y cosas tan interesantes como: la evolución de los electrodomésticos, las diferentes culturas de cocinas... y yo me encargo del diseño de las cocinas de hoy en día: materiales, firmas importantes... un conjunto que creo que es muy interesante para todos los interioristas y amantes del diseño.

Kitchen Collaboration with Rio is a new section in my blog called "kitchens around the world". It is a monthly post where Rio Kitchens Bathrooms Sonia and I chose countries around the world, where Sonia was spoken of as the history of the kitchens in the most iconic cities of the world and things as interesting as the evolution of appliances, different cultures of kitchens ... and I design custom kitchens today: materials, major firms ... a set that I think is very interesting for all interior designers and design lovers.

¿A que diseñadores les sigues la pista? That designers do you track them?

Me gusta mucho Jaime Hayón, sus proyectos me parecen divertidos y diferentes, y desde que conocí a Beatriz Silveira este año en Casa Decor ya no la pierdo el hilo, me encanta su trabajo y para mí es una referencia.

I really like Jaime Hayon, projects seem fun and different, and since I met this year Beatriz Silveira Decor Home no longer lose the thread, I love your work and for me is a reference.

El diseño y el estilo decorativo esta en todas partes. ¿Un espacio que te haya enamorado desde el primer momento? The design and the decorative style is everywhere. A space that you have fallen in love from the first time?

Hay tantos... pero esta primavera fui a Barcelona a pasar unos días con mi novio (que también es interiorista) y estuvimos en el Hotel Mandarín Oriental, diseñado por Patricia Urquiola. Solo con decirte que estuvimos 2 horas para tomarnos un café, nos quedamos completamente asombrados con el proyecto. Las celosías que diseñó Patricia para el salón principal colgadas del techo son una maravilla y hacen de separadores de ambientes, y poder disfrutar de piezas suyas como la silla crinoline para mí es una maravilla, si vais a Barcelona no dejéis de ir.

There are so many ... but this spring I went to Barcelona for a few days with my boyfriend (who is also an interior designer) and stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, designed by Patricia Urquiola. Just to say we were two hours to have a coffee, we were thoroughly impressed with the project. The lattices that designed the main hall Patricia for hanging from the ceiling are wonderful and make room dividers, and enjoy his pieces as crinoline chair for me is great, if you go to Barcelona do not let go.

¿Cómo es la vivienda de una joven diseñadora? ¿Cual es para ti el elemento que nunca puede faltar en un buen interiorismo? As housing is a young designer? What is for you the item you can never miss a good interior?

La verdad es que yo todavía vivo con mis padres, soy muy joven, tengo 23 años pero la verdad es que espero "volar" cuando pueda permitírmelo de casa ( a mis padres les da algo jaja). Pero lo cierto es que fantaseo mucho sobre cómo será mi casa. Me gustan mucho los espacios abiertos con mucha luz natural y techos altos.

Para mí un elemento importantísimo son las estanterías, tanto para cocinas, como zona de trabajo, zona de estar... soy una persona muy organizada y me encanta guardar todo en estanterías, donde quede todo visto y puedas buscar algo rápido si lo necesitas.

The truth is that I still live with my parents, I'm young, I have 23 years but the truth is that I hope to "fly" when you can afford the house (my parents give them something haha). But the truth is that I fantasize a lot about how to be my home. I love the open spaces with natural light and high ceilings.
For me a very important element are the shelves for kitchens, as a working area, a seating area ... I am a very organized person and I love to keep everything on shelves, where it is all seen and you can find something quickly if needed.
